5 WAYS TO DIG DOWN DEEP

As part of our 2022 vision, we have set the goal to baptise 60 believers into Christ in a single year. We recognise that every vision comes with responsibility, so we set another goal. Individually, but together as a family, every three months we set goals to grow. It is only when we grow deeper in our relationship with God that we could ever achieve the vision. The goal is not how deep. The goal is growth in our intimacy with Him.

Use these 5 areas, simple examples and tools to set your individual growth goal and let us together spur one another on as we see our city encounter the love of Jesus.

PREACH THE GOSPEL

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Luke 6:46-49

STUDY THE WORD

Studying, exploring and dwelling on our bibles is how we know God and understand His will. We must daily feed ourselves the Word of God if we expect to grow and mature in our faith. We want to know more about God so that we can know God more.

The Bible is the word of God, written by faithful men chosen by God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. While humans were the vessels God used to write down the passages, the truth of the Bible did not come from human understanding or knowledge. Every part of the Bible is God-breathed. While various writers bring different perspectives, the Bible is inspired by God and reveals his identity, nature, and divine plan for all of humankind.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…” 2 Timothy 3:16

How to S.O.A.P

Our desire is that every believer would not just attend church, but also hear from God daily through His Word! As we read the Bible, we begin to see how God responds to things. Doing daily devotions re-patterns the way we think, transforms the spirit of our mind, and...

TALK TO JESUS

The power of prayer deepens our dependence on Him and sharpens our faith. When we pray we choose to put everything in God’s hands knowing that His hand will show up in every aspect of our lives and in those around us.

The act of prayer is what creates our intimacy with God. We can practice the spiritual habit of prayer knowing that our requests go to a God who hears us and who invites us to be intimately involved in His plan. For this reason, we pray in confidence knowing that our prayers are powerful and can bring about change in any circumstance.

There are no levels to this. We all can enter prayer with a posture of trust, openness, and faith, believing that God can do far more than we could even ask or imagine.  It’s not about our circumstance, it’s about our heart stance.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

How to P.R.A.Y

Prayer is a powerhouse resource for all believers. It builds us up, activates our faith, and heals our wounds. And not because of prayer in itself, but because of whom to we pray. God has the power to address all our needs, but we must go to him in prayer.

WALK IN THE SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is the one who transforms us from the inside out to act, think, and love like Jesus. As we keep in step with God’s Spirit, He matures us and produces the Christ-like qualities in us. We must daily ask the Spirit of God to lead, guide, and direct our paths and to conform us into the image of Christ.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16

How do I invite people to church?

Let’s face it. When we invite people to church, the idea of it can be nerve-wracking. There’s a lot of inner dialogue that happens. How do I bring it up in conversation? What if I come across as judgmental? What if I get rejected? What if they don’t feel comfortable...

HEART OF SERVICE

Jesus taught us that the way to lead is to serve. Whoever wants to be the greatest must be willing to become the least. Church is not just a building you enter or a service you attend, it’s a community that you’re invited to receive from and contribute to.

“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:12

HEART OF SURRENDER

In the Kingdom of God, victory comes through surrender. Only when we surrender to God’s will and walk in His ways, do we begin to experience the abundant life Jesus promised. “Physical maturity is bound to time. “Spiritual maturity is bound to obedience.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:5-12
